The Enoch Pratt Free Library |
| Overview: |
Renovations to the Enoch Pratt Free Library Included:
- Construction of four mezzanines above the first floor
in the four corners of the building, with accompanying renovation
of adjacent areas.
- Renovation of the second-stack area (two levels below
the main floor) to expand space for the operations of the
Maryland Inter-Library Organization through which Pratt
services to the State are channeled.
- Mechanical and electrical improvements to support the
new and renovated area.
- Improved fireproofing.
- Improvements to the Audio-Visual Department, to accommodate
one of Pratt's fastest growing services.
- Repair, cleaning, and general refurbishing of the display
windows on Cathedral Street.
- Bright lighting of the distinctive second-floor grillework
and street level entrance.
- Cleaning, repair, and replacement of glass for the skylight
above Central Hall.
- Redesigned outer lobby. The guard's station and book security
system were rearranged for greater efficiency and eye-appeal.
- Improve landscaping on three sides of the building, along
Cathedral, Mulberry and Franklin Streets.
- Approximately 10,000 square feet added.
