| Overview: |
The Bel Air United Methodist Church included 28,000 square feet
of new construction of general purpose meeting rooms, educational
facilities, a library and a nursery school, as well as a 17,000
square feet renovation to the administrative and educational areas.
The work was performed in four phases so the church was able
to continue all of its programs and functions without interruption
during the entire construction period. The additions and renovations
also had to be of matching materials to the existing church
so that at no point would it be obvious that the structure
was "added to."
BAUMC now contains Christian education rooms for all ages
and grade levels, a new nursery, large meeting/multi-purpose
rooms, a large self-sufficient community outreach room, a
new library (dedicated to Rev. Charles W. Lightner under whose
direction the program began), a new elevator and handicap
access, a new choir room, a beautiful parlor/bride's room
and a new administrative suite. The beautiful stone church
with its high spire and large lawn are a wonderful way to
welcome citizens and visitors to The Town of Bel Air.
