Pearl Street Parking Garage |
| Overview: |
The Pearl Street Parking Garage represented the University
of Maryland Baltimore's first design-build project. The six
story, 700 space building fronts on the 600 block of Fayette
Street and utilizes "air rights" to bridge over
Pearl Street near the university's campus in downtown Baltimore.
Constructed of precast concrete, the facility provides 290,000
square feet of parking/drive area, and an additional 32,000 square feet
of enclosed space for future office or retail use. Extensive
use of brick veneers and glass curtain walls enhance the structure's
appearance and maintain the University's aesthetic requirements.
Schafer completed the project six weeks early and under the
owner's budget.
