Professional construction management services for the largest high school built in Howard County, MD. The 1600 student, 252,000 square foot, 3-story building sits on 46-acres and includes the following: 3-story commons area, classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art communications featuring TV and data facilities, cafeteria with indoor and outdoor dining, a prominent auditorium and the most up-to-date sport facilities and athletic fields. The new auditorium seats 710 and includes dust control facilities and modern lighting systems. The sport facilities include a full size gymnasium with bleachers, an auxiliary gym, contemporary weight room and a wood floor dance studio. The athletic fields include an 8-lane track with state-of-the-art track surfacing, playfields for hockey, baseball, softball, soccer, tennis courts, basketball courts and practice areas. Construction had to be completed within a 19 month timeframe after receipt of the building permit. To service both the new high school and neighboring middle school's water/sewer capacity, a new modern sewage treatment facility was constructed as part of the project. Working together with the owner and all trade contractors, Schafer kept the project moving and completed the project by the required occupancy date of August 1, 2005. |
